Jeet Kune Do

Way of the
intercepting fist

Built upon the foundation of Wing Chun principles and old-school boxing/fencing tactics. In Jeet Kune Do you get a scientific, brilliantly simple, and no-nonsense method of self defense straight from the mind of Bruce Lee.

Hit first. Hit straight. Hit hard. Hit often.

The use of long straight strikes makes Jeet Kune Do a remarkably refined counter attacking art. Because they are faster than other forms of attack, these staggeringly quick strikes are difficult to defend against and also make you a hard target to hit, giving anyone who uses them a clear advantage in a fight (even against a larger, stronger opponent). With all of the advantages it’s no wonder why Lee used straight hitting as a part of his delivery system.

Soft targets – because no one has iron knee caps.

In the ring there are weight classes, time limits, and rules. However, real fights are seldom fought fairly and Jeet Kune Do responds in kind with super quick strikes to the most vulnerable targets available (e.g. eyes, groin, knees). This makes JKD an extremely effective self defense method. You don’t have to be the most powerful person in the room to be able to defend yourself. By attacking “soft targets,” Jeet Kune Do gives its practitioner the tactical edge regardless of size.

They can’t hit what isn’t there.

Jeet Kune Do is a science of movement. Instead of standing still and blocking, JKD teaches you to move and use distance and positioning for your defense allowing you to attack in such a way that won’t leave you vulnerable. Why sit still and take damage when you can avoid it all together? After all, its pretty tough to hit you when they can’t reach you.

Ever notice that Bruce Lee guy was in really good shape? There is a reason for that.

Work at your own pace as you practice on the focus mitts, with your classmates, and even your instructors to develop the speed, power, and endurance you need to turn your body into a weapon that you can trust your life with. As long as your becoming a weapon, why not keep it sharp?
