Little Dragons

Strength through character.

Our children are growing up in a world that tells them to do whatever they feel like doing and that their happiness is the highest good. But, seeking happiness without good character – self control, respect, and work-ethic – is a recipe for disaster. We teach our kids that doing the right thing is always more important than doing what we feel like doing. With a deep emphasis on character and quality, age appropriate self defense skills through Jeet Kune Do. It’s an unbeatable combination.

Age appropriate martial arts training.

The chief principle that guides our Little Dragons program is that all kids need two things: unconditional love, and loving discipline. From day one we teach our Little Dragons that self-control and respect are the most important things that they learn in Kung Fu. In addition, they also learn kicks and punches that develop coordination and strength, along with age appropriate self defense by learning how to avoid danger in the most common forms for this age group, including strangers, and of course, bullies.

Respect.

A lot of martial arts programs these days show your child what respect means by commanding it of them. They scream, yell, and embarrass their students in order to get a proper response. Fear and respect can look awfully similar, but there is no substitute for the real thing. Our kids aren’t taught respect by fear, but instead are shown what it is by servant leaders that teach by example. We teach respect by treating others as we would want to be treated. Its a much more effective approach than intimidation.

Fun, safe training taught by servant leaders.

A lot of martial arts schools will try to teach your child to protect themselves by putting a bunch of padding on them, sticking them in front of a bigger kid and letting them get beat up. Training like this is like setting the house on fire before running a fire drill. Why pay just to have your child get beat up? We teach our Little Dragons to protect themselves in a fun, safe environment where learning self defense, and self control doesn’t require them to become punching bags.

Self control.

From their first day our kids learn that self control is the most important thing in kung fu. Kicks and punches are great, but without the ability to control ourselves, we are nothing but well trained bullies. Sports programs for kids can be fun, but they don’t offer your child the ability to protect themselves from the damaging effects of bad character. And no bully can do the kind of damage that poor character can.
