Learning a martial art can teach you very useful skills. The problem is that most self-defense schools are teaching you styles that either don’t work, or were meant for sport fighting. If you’re going to keep yourself safe in today’s increasingly violent world you need a simple, no-nonsense approach to street self-defense, and that is what Jeet Kune Do is all about. When your safety is at stake why take chances?
Do you teach defense against weapons?
We do... but not how you'd think. Defending yourself against an armed assailant when you dont have a weapon is a horrible, horrible scenario that we teach you how to avoid first, equalize second, and then resis third - as a completely last resort.
Great for smaller people
Martial arts for women, children, and anyone who is under attack by someone bigger.
In the ring there are weight classes, time limits, and rules. However, real fights are seldom fought fairly and Jeet Kune Do responds in kind with super quick strikes to the most vulnerable targets available (e.g. eyes, groin, knees). This makes JKD an extremely effective self defense method. You don’t have to be the most powerful person in the room to be able to defend yourself. By attacking “soft targets,” Jeet Kune Do gives its practitioner the tactical edge regardless of size.
Is there sparring in JKD?
We do a variety of focus mitt and sparring related drills to make sure your reflexes are honed for a sudden violent encounter. With all the groin kicks, etc., in JKD it's not safe to do all-out sparring so, instead, you've got plenty of unique drills to make sure you can function under pressure.

Do you teach multiple opponent defense?
Absolutely. Every technique and tactic is designed to work against the reality that you might be fighting more than one person. And the brilliant part is that everything is integrated, so you don't fight one way against a single opponent and another against multiple attackers.
